Be careful on rampsReceived my scooter before returning to work after Achilles tendon repair surgery. Had gotten pretty good with crutches and a walker in the house, but the thought of long halls in the office, even to get to the bathroom was overwhelming. My son assembled it quickly for me, despite the fact that the brake probably still needs some adjustment. It is a lot better than using crutches for long walks, but, in my first week I "took a spill" falling off going down an extended ramp area at the office as I was braking and the front handlebars twisted to the side and I kept going. Luckily, I didn't rehurt my surgical site, but my knees continue to be sore. I have to use this ramp area many times each day to get to my desk - I have asked them for a handrail (prior to this) and have been told it isn't steep enough to require a handrail (by law). I just need to go very slowly and carefully on it. Written by Amanda on Fri 5 Apr 2013 8:10:42 PM GMT
