Answer: We do not handle any claims for either insurance or Medicare. This would require us to do additional paperwork and time spent with insurance companies. This would increase our overhead and increase the cost we would have to pass on to our customer. We do, however, provide you with an invoice of items purchased which you will present to Medicare or your insurance company. It is your responsibility to ensure that your purchase will meet the requirements of Medicare or you insurance company.

Question: What are HCPCS Codes?
Answer: HCPCS Codes, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System numbers, are the codes used by Medicare and monitored by CMS, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. They are based on the CPT* Codes (Current Procedural Technology codes) developed by the American Medical Association.
HCPCS Codes are numbers assigned to every task and service a medical practitioner may provide to a Medicare patient including medical, surgical and diagnostic services. Since everyone uses the same codes to mean the same thing, they ensure uniformity. For example, no matter what doctor a Medicare patient visits for an allergy injection (code 95115) that doctor will be paid by Medicare the same amount another doctor in that same geographic region would be.
*CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes are numbers assigned to every task and service a medical practitioner may provide to a patient including medical, surgical and diagnostic services. They are then used by insurers to determine the amount of reimbursement that a practitioner will receive by an insurer. Since everyone uses the same codes to mean the same thing, they ensure uniformity.

Question: What are HMESA Codes?
Answer: HMESA's purpose is to set standards in the HME industry for the smooth transfer of information between manufacturers and homecare providers. Currently HMESA is working on product naming conventions, product hierarchy and units of measure. This schema will allow manufacturers to send changes regarding product item data in an electronic format that can be easily understood by all stakeholders. The benefits will be an increase in productivity and reduction in costs throughout the supply chain. The Home Medical Equipment Standards Association was organized to bring providers and manufacturers together to create a more manageable and orderly supply chain throughout the industry.

PLEASE NOTE: HCPCS codes, HMESA codes and Home Health Consolidated Billing codes provided by RoSa Medical Supply are intended as general guidelines only. RoSa Medical Supply does not guarantee coverage or reimbursement of any products. You must address all coverage and reimbursement issues (including the correctness and accuracy of codes) with your individual payers. It is your responsibility to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of each claim you submit, in accordance with all applicable payer requirements.

Question: What is the definition of DME?

  • is primarily used for medical purposes,
  • is generally not useful to a person in the absence of illness or injury
  • and is appropriate for use in the home.
